Introducing the Tour D’Amour Locations
On Sunday May 14th, the second edition of Tour d’Amour will take place. You will go on a creative journey on various locations in Rotterdam Noord.
Broeinest is a place where creators of physical environments are inspired by more than 3,000 decorative decors and various materials from our material library and can work at one of the iconic flexible ’broeiplekken’, a series of flex-desks. It is a place to meet interior design professionals (architects, furniture builders, product designers) and exchange knowledge during the breakfast and knowledge sessions and where skills can be enhanced through customized workshops. As a designer you can meet up with your customers and organize creative sessions and use the laser cutter to create prototypes or models. You’re always welcome at Broeinest for material advice or help with your project.
This ’creators playground’ is a concept of Baars & Bloemhoff and is realised with the support of partners in the interior design industry. We host Materia’s collection of innovative materials that is refreshed quarterly. Besides Baars & Bloemhoff, also DRT flooring, Forbo Flooring, Interface, Modular, Barri&More, Busch Jaeger and IVA Office show their products and share their knowledge and expertise.
Empire Island by Josie
In Broeinest you’ll find the lovely café of Josie. Josie is a tea specialist from England who set up the loose leaf tea company ‘Empire Island’ here in Rotterdam. As well as quenching the thirst of tea enthusiasts across the city, Josie is inventing alternative ways to enjoy tea. Being an absolute enthusiast of great drinks and of adventure, she constantly seeks to work, play and create in the world of horeca, events and festivals. This summer her creations are going to be put to the test! Go find her in the city and see what she is up to.
Sober Collective will be the location of the musical part of Tour d’Amour: Maask. Sober Collective is located in Rotterdam, but their playground is the world. Sober Collective is a household of different companies in the creative sector with the brandname Sober. Added with the presence and contributions of artists like TelmoMiel, Tim Boin Art and Brandwerk that completes their gallery and collective.
Exposition Kaili Smith
During Tour d’Amour Sober Collective will show eight works of Kaili Smith, winner of the Sober Talent Contest. Kaili Smith is a promising visual artist, coming from a diverse family. Born in the Netherlands (1995) and raised in Australia. He now lives in between The Netherlands and New York. His art, that takes him around the world, is a reflection on the increasingly integrated society of today. Often looking at different people whose lives have been subjected to globalisation and merging cultural influences. The work which ranges from paintings, photography, videos, installations to poetry, always takes a strong stance as an observer rather than critical or biased opinions.
The works of Kaili Smith can be seen in Sober Collective from 12th of May until July 12.
Studio de Bakkerij
Based in an old chocolate factory on the Bergweg you’ll find Studio de Bakkerij. This cultural centre and theatre has become firmly rooted in Rotterdam Noord over the past years. Rotterdam is a diverse city and with diversity comes a variety of opinions and points of view, that can sometimes clash.
Studio de Bakkerij brings people together through theater and language and challenges people to step out of their comfort zone to get to know each other. Rotterdammers and people from other cities can experience different forms of art in a low-key way. Suprising, safe, experimental, traditional, but always innovative art. Studio de Bakkerij welcomes makers that want to use language in their work in order to address social theme’s.
