Round&Round design café – Round, fluffy cakes and more
If you happen to pass by Round&Round, there’s no chance you won’t notice it. Its window is drawn on with a white marker and the big, beautiful mural painting they have inside is visible from the outside. And so I went in, as a friend had suggested I should.
It is a place where you can have a coffee or lots of different kinds of tea, look (and buy) some design selections they have on a display there, and most importantly: try the Chinese and Japanese cakes that the two girls who own Round&Round make themselves.
The girls are originally from China, and when they moved in Rotterdam a couple of years ago, they were missing the Asian style of cakes: really fluffy and not overly sweet. That’s how they decided to share with the Rotterdammers what they thought was missing from the city, and open this café.
I tried the “Giraffe” cake, which – guess what – had a giraffe pattern on it, and it was de-li-ci-ous. I had to choose out of many different ones, and I’m telling you, the decision wasn’t easy. I guess that’s why they also offer High Teas, where many different sorts of cake are being served to you.
Round&Round just opened recently and it is a quiet space where you can work on your computer without getting disturbed, while being on a friendly, nice environment. Or you can just go by to try something new! That’s always a refreshing thing to do.
