Announcing Film Platform Rotterdam
The new Rotterdam film sector organization
Rotterdam is getting a film sector organization. The organization, called Film Platform Rotterdam and co-founded by Rotterdam, I Love You, was announced yesterday during the spectacular first edition of the Rotterdam Film Feest in Poppodium Annabel. The initiators aim to unify the burgeoning Rotterdam film industry and provide a platform for it through Film Platform Rotterdam.
Film Platform Rotterdam is for all filmmakers: from big production companies to passionate starters. The organization focuses on networking, knowledge sharing and joint promotion of Rotterdam makers, organizations and productions. In addition to organizing events such as workshops, seminars and networking events a new website will be launched in 2017 where filmmakers and their films get extensive exposure.
Film Platform Rotterdam is an open network organization, focused on maintaining active partnerships with as many movie-related organizations in Rotterdam as possible, in order to connect the sector more strongly. Partners range from production houses and service companies to cinemas and film festivals.
Joeri Pruys, initiator and one of the producers of Rotterdam, I Love You: “The Rotterdam film industry is flourishing, but the makers and their films get very little attention. That’s why we want to create joint opportunities for growth and contribute to a healthy Rotterdam film industry.” Hans Groenendijk, also an initiator and organizer of 48 Hour Film Project Rotterdam: “There are hundreds of talented filmmakers in Rotterdam who want to make beautiful things. It’s time to join forces and show our worth.”
Filmmakers and organizations who want to join can find more information on www.facebook.com/filmplatformrotterdam and www.filmplatformrotterdam.org. Rotterdam Film Platform is an initiative of Joeri Pruys and Matt Jaems (Rotterdam, I Love You), Hans Groenendijk (48 Hour Film Project Rotterdam) and Thijs de Neeve (RT-M Project Financing).
