Get to know the first part of our all-star cast
We’ve just announced the first nine Dutch stars for the feature film Rotterdam, I Love You, announced as part of a growing international top cast.
For the international film Rotterdam, I Love You the first Dutch lead actors are made public today: Halina Reijn (winner of the Golden Calf and Theo d’Or), Nasrdin Dchar (winner of the Golden Calf), Gaite Jansen (nomination for Golden Calf ), Maryam Hassouni (Emmy winner), Ricky Koole (3 nominations for Golden Calfs), Eva Duijvestein (winner Gouden Beeld, nomination Golden Calf), Katja Herbers, Benja Bruijning and Yootha Wong Loi Sing (nomination Golden Calf). Together they are part of the stellar cast of Rotterdam, I Love You, which will be expanded in the coming months with more Dutch and international talent.
Rotterdam, I Love You is the next installment in the worldwide ‘Cities of Love’ film series. Previous parts in this series were the famous and successful films Paris je t’aime (2006) and New York, I Love You (2009). Every film in the series revolves around a world city. The films each consist of ten or more stories, filmed by several renowned directors, and with well-known film actors in the lead roles. Past performers in the ‘Cities of Love’ series include Bradley Cooper, Harvey Keitel, Natalie Portman, Andy Garcia, Orlando Bloom, Ethan Hawke, Shia LaBeouf, Robin Wright, and Nick Nolte. In Rotterdam, I Love You international stars of this caliber will also make their appearance.
Actress Halina Reijn: “It’s incredibly inspiring to be part of such a wonderful project, which has already proven itself internationally and is now coming to our country. Rotterdam is a fascinating and buzzing city, full of life, conflict, love and hope. It’s fertile ground for great stories.”
According to the producers this announcement comes at an important time. Matt Jaems: “It’s happening in Rotterdam right now. Rotterdam has recently been chosen by the Lonely Planet travel guides as one of the five world cities you must visit.” Joeri Pruys adds: “The international attention for Rotterdam is bigger than ever. And with Rotterdam, I Love You we take it quite a step further.”
Rotterdam, I Love You will show the real Rotterdam, in all its raw beauty, to the world. The film is produced by Matt Jaems and Joeri Pruys in collaboration with September Film Productions and producer Jeroen Beker. Rotterdam, I Love You will be shot in spring / summer 2017 and will be released in Dutch and international cinemas in 2018.
